Hyper Protect revolutionizes Output Management in the Cloud – SEAL Systems and IBM form a Strong Partnership

Merging two worlds: Cloud-based output management meets main­frame

As a leading provider of output management solutions, we at SEAL Systems always focus on offering our customers innovative solutions. One such innovative solution now results from a cooperation with IBM: In the past, we were primarily familiar with the server world, while IBM has made a name for itself in the mainframe world. Due to the differences in hardware and software, our paths have rarely crossed. However, thanks to two decisive factors that are both closely linked to the cloud, we have now joined forces with IBM and are entering into a pioneering partnership.

IBM has opened up its mainframe world to Linux and now enables companies to use mainframe-based Linux systems directly from the cloud. At the same time, we at SEAL Systems have developed our current output management engine, PLOSSYS 5, as a cloud native solution. This now allows us to run our cloud-based output management systems on IBM mainframe solutions. In this way, our customers can benefit from the resulting advantages, even if the hardware is still different.

A perfect enhancement for better output management

IBM systems and the solutions from SEAL Systems complement each other perfectly: the mainframes of the Z series offer maximum performance, reliability and scalability – all features that output management systems require. Our software can use these features to offer flexible, powerful and reliable output management solutions in and from the cloud. In addition, many SEAL Systems customers are already using IBM hardware or are considering adopting it; at the same time, with PLOSSYS 5 we can offer IBM customers a powerful cloud solution for their output management. It therefore made sense to enter into a cooperation and combine our strengths.

Hyper Protect – The revolution in security for cloud-based output management

The most exciting aspect of our partnership is certainly Hyper Protect and Confidential Computing. IBM defines Hyper Protect as a unique security solution in which the runtime environment of our software is protected by hardware-based cryptographic measures. This protection mechanism covers all types of unauthorized access, even from IBM itself. Based on state-of-the-art software container technology, Hyper Protect fits perfectly with our cloud native approach with PLOSSYS 5.

Thanks to Hyper Protect, we are able to offer our customers a cloud instance of PLOSSYS 5 that is not only protected by organizational measures such as the Safe Harbor Agreement or the cloud provider’s security precautions, but is also technically secured against data leakage – in other words, zero trust. Even a potential attacker who knows the root password and has physical access to the hardware cannot technically access the PLOSSYS 5 data. This is particularly important for companies that provide sensitive documents such as contracts, payslips or strategy papers via the cloud, the security of which can affect the success of the entire company.

Outlook: The future of output management with SEAL Systems and IBM

We have successfully completed the certification of PLOSSYS 5 for IBM Hyper Protect. In the second half of the year, we will launch the first pilot projects to demonstrate the performance and reliability of this revolutionary solution. From 2024, companies will be able to operate Confidential Output Management in the cloud based on PLOSSYS 5 and Hyper Protect. We are also planning to offer a corresponding SaaS offering in the medium term.

Our innovative solution with Hyper Protect sets new standards in security and enables companies to transfer their confidential data securely through the cloud.
